Citadel Academy is a Cosmic Horror Dark Academia novel I am working on as a side project.
We follow a group of troubled students trying to make sense of their broken world and the opressive environment in the Academic Institution of the Church. College dramas and student rivalry becomes the least of their problems when God suddenly goes missing. Now they have to work together as they reveal the secrets and forbidden history of the Old Gods.
On an Island at the center of the world is an Elite Academic Institution under control of the Church of Light. Scholars from noble bloodlines who inherit magic from all around the continent come here to study, unaware of the dark history that lay beneath their feet.
"...Thus the LORD came down from the heavens above the clouds. In the beginning before the light, there was only chaos and darkness.
From the formless crawling void had emerged the old gods, with wicked hearts and dark ambitions. They, who laughed as they tortured the innocent souls of the mortals whom they looked down upon. They brought war, famine, plague and death.
The LORD saw this evil and said; "Let there be light!" And there was light. The days of suffering and age of Darkness ended when the LORD brought his light upon them.
The LORD began his holy crusade against the evil, slayed and banished the old gods into dark corners of the universe. The LORD brought the age of light, peace and prosperity. For great is the LORD the glory due his name and most worthy of praise; he is to be feared above all gods.
And the LORD said to men, covered in blood of the old gods:
O earth and the sea, and you who dwell in them! I am CELESTE, the LORD, your god, the one who rescued the life of the needy from the hands of the wicked. You shall have no other gods before me, you shall not bow down to them or worship them for they are the false gods! You will pray only to the LORD, sing only to the LORD!
And men trembled before the LORD's presence. They vowed to fight his holy crusade and spread his light among-
